ATTENTION INTERESTED CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS:

Applications for the 2009 Boston Marathon Charity Program are no longer being accepted. Applications for 2010 will be available in June 2009.

Mission Statement
The Boston Athletic Association, committed to encouraging and promoting fitness through athletics, has developed a program with the Boston Marathon and charitable organizations in the Boston area. The B.A.A. assists these charitable organizations by providing guaranteed entries for their organization’s fund raising purposes and, in the spirit of charity, encourages all qualified runners to aid in these efforts.

About the Program
The B.A.A. accepts a limited number of new organizations each year, each to receive 15 waivers per year for a period for up to three years. These entries do not require a qualifying time but do require that runners acknowledge that they can complete a marathon within 6 hours and will abide by all other B.A.A. rules and regulations.

The objective of the B.A.A. is to diversify the type of charities that are accepted in the program. For your information, a list of charities currently in place for the 2009 Boston Marathon is listed on the left. Please click on the logos for more information on each charity. It is solely at the discretion of the B.A.A. as to the selection criteria and ultimate number of charities chosen or entries given.

How to Apply
Organizations that are located in the Greater Boston area are welcome to apply to the Official Charity Program. Applications are traditionally available online during the month of June. In addition to completing the online application, organizations are required to provide the following financial documents:

501 (c) 3 letter
IRS Form 990
Recent Audit Report
